8 Ways to Publish Your Podcast in 2024 (iVoox, SoundCloud,iTunes,+5 More)

In this third part, we will focus on explaining how to publish the content.

Of course, before doing so, it is worth remembering that there are multiple platforms on which you can host your podcast (in part 2 of this guide, in fact, we mention up to 27 different hosting platforms). However, they all follow fairly similar guidelines. Therefore, below we will focus only on explaining the process of publishing a podcast on the 4 main platforms:

  • iVoox
  • SoundCloud
  • iTunes
  • Spotify

And much more!

On the rest of the platforms, as we noted, the process is quite similar.

1. How to publish a podcast on iVoox

iVoox is one of the most popular platforms, especially in Spain. Hence, many podcasters decide to host their program on this platform. Well, if this is your case, you must follow the following steps:

  • Register on iVoox and log in: you must create an account with which you can manage your podcast, as well as all the programs you decide to listen to.
  • Click  “Upload”: this button appears at the top of the page.
  • Click “Select File” and choose the MP3 file you recorded. Come on, select your first program (which is usually a very short intro).
  • Fill in the requested fields: title, category, tags, profile photo, format, language, and all additional fields that may be requested.
  • Indicate what the title of your podcast is  (not of the program you are uploading, but of the podcast).
  • Add a description.
  • Click “Send”. In a couple of minutes, you will see your podcast published on iVoox.

From now on, when you go to publish a new episode, you will only have to select the podcast to which said episode corresponds, and not create a new podcast with each chapter.

Note: The maximum size allowed is 300MB. And the required quality must be greater than 16Kbps.

2. How to publish a podcast on SoundCloud

Another of the most popular platforms, along with iVoox, is SoundCloud. In this case, you must follow the following steps to publish your podcast:

  • Create a user account.
  • Click upload episode.
  • And that’s it. Of course, you should keep the following in mind: to simplify things, the user profile you have created will serve as your podcast profile. Therefore, you must include in the description what is related to the podcast you have published, as well as include an image.

Finally, you can organize the category where you want your podcast to appear in the content settings section, as well as indicate if your podcast includes explicit content.

3. How to publish a podcast on iTunes

Another of the most successful platforms is iTunes, which we must not forget if we want our podcast to reach the largest number of listeners possible. In this case, you must follow the following steps to publish your program:

  • The first thing you should know is that iTunes acts as an intermediary between your podcast and users,  and not as a host. Come on, it doesn’t store your content. Therefore, you need to host your podcast on another platform (such as iVoox, SoundCloud, or Spreaker). Now, once you do it, you just have to:
  • Upload the first chapter to iTunes (it is also very easy to do), which will allow you to obtain an RSS link to download or play said audio.
  • Create a cover.
  • Publish it.

Once you are at this point, you can start the process of publishing your podcast on iTunes:

  • Validate the podcast on Podcast Connect, which is an online space that allows you to celebrate your podcasts. You only need an Apple account or Apple ID to do it.
  • Access Podcasts Connect: a box will appear where you can place the RAA link that you obtained when following the first steps.
  • Click “Validate” to preview.
  • Check that the text and image are correct.
  • Click “Send”

If everything goes well, an indicator will appear on the screen informing you that your podcast is being reviewed. In addition, they will send you an email to inform you of all this, as well as a link to activate the podcast once it has been approved. When activated, your podcast will be visible in iTunes.
